4 Outrageous Celebrity Lawsuits That Were Actually Settled

By Simba The Comic King

Everyone knows the story of Stella Liebeck, or so I think as her name popped up so many goddamn times when I was researching for this. For those of you who don’t, Stella, a 79 year old woman at the time, sued McDonalds’ cause she split their coffee on her own lap while she was in a car driven by her grandson, Chris, since she definitely wasn’t Lovin’ It, she went on to sue the red and yellow off McDonald’s insisting that their coffee was too hot and got awarded a retirement package of $2.7 million. We assume she used it to open her own coffee shop which she called "Not As Hot As McDonald’s" Coffee Place.

Stella Liebeck vs. McDonalds’ is considered the most famous example of frivolous litigation and nowadays it ain’t that easy to sue cause you split coffee on yourself unless of course you are a celebrity. There are celebrities who are possessed by the hot McDonalds’ coffee hatin’ spirit of Stella Liebeck who have gotten away with ri-sh***y-culous lawsuits that were settled in or outside court….

50 Cent Sues Taco Bell For Asking Them To Change His Name To 79, 89 or 99 Cent For A Day

50 Cent has taken bullets which kinda baffles us why he can’t take a joke. Eight years ago, Taco Bell wrote a letter to 50 Cent asking him to change his name to 79 Cent," "89 Cent" or "99 Cent" just for a day by so doing, they would donate $10,000 to a charity of his choice. The only problem is they didn’t send this letter to Fiddy, not until it was too late. The whole idea was to promote their "79-89-99 Cent Why Pay More" campaign, the letter got to journalists first who immediately turned into news, “several postings on internet blogs later”, 50 Cent’s fans were outraged that he would endorse Taco Bell cause a Burrito ain’t G, son.

You can’t get shot nine times only for you to trade in your street cred for a Taco. A lawsuit was filed against Taco Bell for using his name without his permission and paying him a fee. 50 Cent eventually settled the lawsuit with the terms of the deal being confidential. This calls for a new album, Sue Taco Bell Or Die Tryin’.

"This is the face of a man who had too many Tacos."

Kim Kardashian Sues Old Navy For Using A Lookalike In Their Ads

Not only is it hard to Keep Up With The Kardashians, over the years it has become increasingly difficult to keep up with their ridiculousness as well. Take for instance the time Kim sued Clothing retailer company, Old Navy for using a look alike of her in one of their commercials. The commercial in question called "Super C-U-T-E," featured Canadian singer-model Melissa Molinaro. Shame on you Kim considering the fact that the woman in the commercial is engaged in activities that Kim hasn’t engaged in for many years now, like going to a grocery store and getting a parking ticket. The lawsuit was eventually resolved to the mutual satisfaction of both parties.

Mariah Carey vs. Mary Carey

It’s a pretty common thing for porn stars to pervert celebrity’s names from Kelly F**kson,  Jamie Fuxx, to Denzel Washingclits ( Holy s**t, I think I just made all of those up!) which is why it’s a bit surprising that Mariah Carey sued Mary Ellen Cook for using the Mary Carey as her porn name.  Apart from lying on her back and bending on all fours, Mary’s other claim to fame is running for California Governor against Arnold Schwarzenegger. That really didn’t work out , no one wants to vote for a Governor who constantly says hasta la vista to her clothes. A judge ruled in favor of Mariah and stopped Mary from using the name of a singer who hasn’t had a hit since baggy jeans.

"Mariah set lawyers on  me....I'm gonna set her a booby trap."

Diamond Dallas Page sues Jay Z for using similar hand sign

No matter how much of a wrestling fan you are, we doubt you even remember the name Diamond Dallas Page but alas once upon a time a wrestler with such a long (and possibly) lame name did exist.  In 2005, probably realizing his bank account was close to a choke slam, he sued Jay Z for using his trademark hand gesture, the “Diamond Cutter” which he dreamt up and trademarked in 1996. Diamond was tired of people asking him why the f**k he was using Jay-Z’s hand sign. The two settled the matter outside court and Page was given an unspecified amount of cash.

"I gat 99 problems and a washed out wrestler tryna extort me is all of them."
